General Conference is just days away, and I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for it. There’s something sacred and soul-soothing about hearing messages from our Prophet, apostles, and other leaders of the Church—especially when life feels a little noisy or uncertain.
But the truth is, I don’t want to just watch Conference. I want to feel it. I want to show up with a heart ready to receive answers, direction, and the kind of comfort and peace that only the Spirit can give.
If you’re hoping for the same, here are five simple ways to personally prepare your heart and mind for General Conference this weekend:

1. Start with a Prayer (or Two)
Begin now by asking Heavenly Father to help you prepare. It can be as simple as, “Please help me hear what You want me to hear this Conference.” When we humbly invite the Spirit ahead of time, we’re more likely to recognize those whisperings when they come.
I also like to ask for help with specific questions—things I’m wrestling with or areas where I need guidance. Writing those questions down in a notebook or the Notes app on your phone can be a powerful way to track answers as they come.
2. Create a Mini Digital (or Physical) Detox
The week leading up to Conference is a great time to gently unplug or cut back on distractions that clutter our spiritual bandwidth. That might mean logging out of certain apps, reducing background noise (even the good kind), or carving out quiet time during your day to simply be still.
You don’t have to go off the grid—but clearing even a little mental space can make a big difference in how prepared you feel to receive personal revelation.
3. Reflect on Past Conferences
Sometimes the most powerful way to look forward is to look back. Pull up a favorite past talk or two and re-listen while folding laundry or driving. Scroll through highlights from last Conference and ask yourself:
- What spoke to me then?
- Have I followed through on any impressions I felt?
- Is there anything I’ve been nudged to do that I’ve been putting off?
This kind of reflection softens the heart and helps us come into the next Conference with intention instead of just habit.

4. Set the Tone in Your Home
Whether you live with little ones, roommates, or it’s just you and your dog, you can still set the spiritual tone in your space. Play uplifting music. Display a favorite quote or scripture. Prep your space with comfy blankets and your favorite treat so Conference feels like a soul-deep recharge and not a passive stream in the background.
If you’re watching with kids, consider prepping a few simple Conference activities ahead of time (there are tons of free printables out there)—and don’t forget to model excitement and reverence for what you’re about to experience.
5. Come Expecting Miracles
This one might sound simple, but it’s the key to it all: Come expecting answers. Come expecting direction. Come expecting comfort and peace—even if it comes in unexpected ways.
When we show up to Conference with faith and real desire, the Lord never leaves us empty. Whether it’s through a talk, a hymn, a scripture, or a quiet feeling you can’t quite explain, He will speak to you.
So, here’s your gentle reminder: General Conference isn’t just a weekend—it’s an opportunity for heaven to speak directly to you.
Make space. Prepare your heart. Bring your questions. And trust that God is ready to pour out peace, light, and answers in whatever way you need them most.
